Aug 22 - Drugs Sentencing – Troy Olivero
Troy OLIVERO, aged 25, of Somerset Court, Laguna Estate has today been imprisoned for a total of three and a half years after pleading guilty to drugs charges in the Supreme Court.
Olivero was arrested on Friday the 9th of August by officers of the Royal Gibraltar Police Drug Squad and charged with possession and possession with intent to supply 103 grams of Cocaine, possession of 15 grams of Cannabis Resin and possession of a Cannabis Plant.
Judge Barrington Black sentenced Olivero to three years imprisonment for possession with intent to supply the 103 grams of Cocaine and three months imprisonment for each of the possession of the Cannabis Plant and the 15 grams of Cannabis Resin, all to be served concurrently. No separate penalty was imposed for the possession of the 103 grams of Cocaine. Taking into account the early guilty plea Olivero was discounted a third of the sentence resulting in a term of imprisonment of two years.
A suspended sentence of eighteen months imprisonment imposed on Olivero on the 18th of July 2013 for drugs offences was activated bringing the total term of imprisonment to three and a half years.
