May 14 - Tobacco Charges Result in £600 Fine

This morning, 49-year-old Spanish National Jose Luis Gonzalez Castaño appeared before the Magistrate’s Court following his arrest yesterday. He was found to be carrying a total of 3960 cigarettes when his car was stopped and searched by RGP officers at the Frontier.
The man was charged with the unlawful transportation if a commercial quantity of cigarettes, being knowingly concerned in the exportation of a commercial quantity of cigarettes and being in possession of said cigarettes. Gonzalez Castaño was found guilty and fined £600.
