Feb 06 - RGP Warns Against Email Scam
06 February 2015
The RGP is warning the public about an email spoofing scam that has seen local businesses receiving emails from addresses ending in .co that appear to be scam emails containing transaction requests. Some of the emails also feature a PDP invoice and bank details to process the transfer.
The RGP claims that the credentials used ‘appear to be obtained from company websites with public contact details for individual Directors or other members of staff’.
They are warning the public that if any such messages have been received and opened they should contact the RGP serious Crime Unit.
It is worth noting however that there are completely legitimate .co company email addresses in existence, they are relatively new and not widely used in Gibraltar.
