Nov 16 - #hashtag: The Revolution of the Word – A New Play By Julian Felice

16 November 2016

Dramatis Personae returns to Bayside Drama Studio later this month with a bold and provocative new play by Julian Felice that raises questions about some aspects of modern society.

Set in a dystopian future where reading is banned, #hashtag: The Revolution of the Word tells the story of Ben, a disaffected dreamer who condenses literary classics into Tweet form before disposing of them…permanently. After discovering a copy of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare in an abandoned library, Ben finds himself increasingly attracted to the Revolution, a secretive underground movement determined to end the oppression of creative writing and bring back the Word. What follows is an inevitable clash between individual and state that puts Ben in grave danger…

#hashtag: The Revolution of the Word continues Dramatis Personae’s recent trend of challenging audiences through stories told by an ensemble cast that mixes familiar faces with newcomers to the group. Julian himself is joined on stage by regulars Tim Seed, Charlie Bishop and Kim Soiza, with Erica McGrail, Dulcie Edwards and Frankie Hatton, making a long-overdue return to the stage, making their first appearance as members of the company. Youngsters Conor McGibney and Louis Emmitt-Stern complete the cast, emphasising the group’s commitment to developing young actors and providing them with opportunities to showcase their talents.

The production runs on the 24th, 25th and 26th November, starting at 20:00. Tickets are priced at £5 and are available at the door, via the play’s Facebook Event page, or on [email protected]
