Apr 21 - Hassan Nahon Proposes Extending Smoking Ban To Parks
21 April 2017
Independent MP Marlene Hassan Nahon has said that smoking should be prohibited in “outdoor parks” to protect “children, toddlers and newborn babies” from second hand smoke.
A statement from Ms Hassan Nahon runs: “I would like to congratulate the Government of Gibraltar for turning the Bayside Sports Complex into a no smoking zone. I echo the Government’s philosophy that “no sportsperson or spectator, especially no child, should have to suffer the effects of secondary smoke.”
“Therefore, and based on that philosophy, I call on Government to apply the same rationale to our outdoor parks, where in particular children, toddlers and newborn babies frequent and should equally not be subjected to second hand smoke.”
