Jun 22 - Gibraltar Disability Society Raise Bus Wheelchair Access Dispute With Ministry For Equality
The Disability Society says it does not wish to become embroiled in a tit for tat with Government regarding the removal of signs from the local buses.
A spokesman for the Society said: "However it must be clarified, since the Government has chosen to issue a rebuttal, that the sign in question was on the window above the wheelchair space and clearly stated that the area was prioritised for wheelchair and pram users.
"This sign has most definitely been removed a fact that was confirmed by several members of staff at the bus company who also confirmed that instructions has been given to have it removed.
"The Society has since spoken directly to the Minister for Equality and have been assured that this matter will be addressed by her department with the Ministry of Transport.
"We hope therefore that the signs will be replaced as soon as possible confirming the priority of this space for wheelchair and disabled buggy users."
