Aug 09 - Defenders Meet UKIP Representatives
The Committee of the Defenders of Gibraltar yesterday had a “very constructive meeting” at the John Mackintosh Hall with senior members of UKIP, including Deputy Leader and MEP Paul Nuttall.
A spokesperson said: “The discussions centred around how UKIP could help in highlighting Gibraltar’s plight at an EU parliamentary level, with UKIP expressing their support for our cause as well as promising to do their best to support Gibraltar and its people. We look forward to having yet more supporters of Gibraltar using their voices in Brussels to hold Spain to account in its bullying tactics towards Gibraltar and its people. UKIP will be meeting (and have indeed already met) with many different local political groups and organisations in Gibraltar over the coming days. We thank UKIP for supporting Gibraltar during its plight and look forward to providing them with detailed information to assist them with raising Gibraltar’s case in the EU.”
