Dec 06 - GSD Statement On Mandela’s Death
06 December 2013
The Opposition says it is deeply saddened by the death of the inspirational former South African President, Nelson Mandela, who dismantled apartheid. The GSD joins the rest of the world in mourning and celebrating his life and says it is a testament to and a measure of Mr Mandela's greatness and courage, how he touched lives worldwide as a beacon of justice and equality.
A GSD Spokesman said: "Nelson Mandela's legacy is one of hope and reconciliation and that enemies can become friends. We can learn lessons from that at a personal level, domestically at a political level and across borders. If the empathy deficit in our communities is identified and addressed, the world could be a better place."
