Feb 06 - Opposition Raises Further Concerns Over No.6 Registered Companies
The Opposition has once again raised the issue of private companies registered under the official residence of the Government, No.6 Covent Place. The party’s concerns and suspicious remain whilst the Government ‘keeps silent despite repeated requests by the Opposition for clarification.’
A GSD spokesperson commented, ‘the public will recall that the GSD discovered the existence of a private company originally named, “ETB 1 Limited” which not only shared its registered office with that of the Chief Minister’s, but also, had Government employees as its shareholders with a well known GSLP supporter in its board. Other companies have also been registered at one of Mr Bossano’s offices at Town Range. The explanation which the Government has provided, being that these companies formed part of their policy on business start-up schemes, continues to ring hollow while their silence on the issue persists.
‘The Government is behaving bizarrely in connection with this issue. Why is it that close to a year since the Social Democrats raised this matter, they have as yet failed to provide the detail of the policy? Why, more importantly, did they, despite their propensity to issue press releases on almost any conceivable subject, fail to announce the supposed business initiative before the GSD raised the alarm about ETB 1?’
