Jan 27 - Number Six: Opposition Is “Trying To Divert Attention”
The Government says it notes Mr Reyes’ response on the issue of lighting at Laguna Estate.
The Government says that last week the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Joseph Garcia, represented Gibraltar in Brussels and lobbied strongly and effectively in defence of Gibraltar’s rightful place in Europe. This week, it says, the Chief Minister is fighting hard to ensure that Gibraltar’s voice will be heard in Madrid. The Government would like to take this opportunity to make it clear that it takes the safety and security of Gibraltar’s citizens as its first priority. This includes, it says, the health and safety of Gibraltarians at home, and Gibraltar’s security and prosperity as a nation in the international arena.
The Government says it therefore finds it “ridiculous” that the Opposition is attempting to divert the public’s attention from the Government’s successes by continuing to focus on the single issue of a light bulb, which is an issue that had already been dealt with in a timely fashion.
