Jun 16 – Picardo Formally Requests Meeting With C-24 Chairman
Immediately upon his return to Gibraltar this afternoon, the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, has written to the Chairman of the Committee of 24 to follow up the events of the session yesterday in New York.
In the letter, Mr Picardo recalls that during the session and in a subsequent brief exchange the Chairman requested that the Chief Minister should formally write to him seeking a meeting in his capacity as Chairman of the Special Committee.
Mr Picardo has immediately followed up that comment for an office request for a meeting. The letter from the Chief Minister constitutes the formal request for such a meeting following the confirmation that the Chairman had met Sñr Ignacio Ybanez, a representative of the Spanish Foreign Ministry, when the latter was in New York on other United Nations business.
The Chief Minister has sought that the meeting should be fixed for as early a date as possible. He has confirmed be will travel to New York for the meeting at short notice if necessary.
