Jun 24 - GSD Says Picardo’s Statement Does Not Detract From Lloyd’s Report Conclusions
The Leader of the Opposition swiftly replied to Mr Picardo’s statement in Parliament regarding the Lloyd’s LNG Report. In a press conference at the party’s HQ, Danny Feetham said that the Chief Minister’s address was a “stunt” with all the “melodrama of a B-movie actor.”
“There is absolutely nothing in Mr Picardo’s statement that detracts from either the Lloyd’s Report or its conclusions,” said Mr Feetham.
Mr Feetham also rejected the claim made by the Government that the original report had been edited down to 30 pages.
“That is a lie – the report has not been redacted,” said Mr Feetham.
He said that the only parts of the report that had been removed had been those that identified the name of the company or individuals who had commissioned it.
Mr Feetham refused to confirm or deny whether the Spark Group of Companies had paid for the report, a claim made by the Chief Minister earlier this afternoon in Parliament. He added that his party “would not be worthy” of donations and whistleblowers if he revealed their source.
The GSD party leader said he would go no further than repeat the information that he had previously made public: that the person behind the report had been a long-time GSD supporter.
He added: “The identity of those who funded the report is not relevant to the conclusions of the report, nor its veracity, nor the independence and integrity of Lloyd’s.”
