Sep 15 - Service Of Dedication Held At King's Chapel
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire Gibraltar Association held a Service of Dedication in The King’s Chapel at noon today to mark the 100th Anniversary of The Order.
The service was conducted by the Chaplain to The King’s Chapel, Rev Fr Michael Wagstaff, with a reading by the former Mayor and current Speaker of the House, Adolfo Canepa and Commander British Forces, Commodore Michael Walliker.
Rev Fr Wagstaff detailed the responsibilities of those who have been awarded an order.
During the Service former Governor, Lieutenant General Sir Robert Fulton KBE KStJ, in his capacity as King of Arms of the Order, dedicated the newly refurbished gates to The King’s Chapel, the works having been funded by members of the Gibraltar Association, this will be the first time Sir Robert returns to Gibraltar since he completed his term as Governor in 2009.
His Excellency the Governor, Lieutenant General Edward Davis CB CBE KStJ, Patron of the Gibraltar Association, read a message from The Grand Master of The Order, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
Following the service, a reception was held at the Convent which was hosted by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo.
The organist for the Service was former Financial Services Commissioner Martin Fuggle OBE, a member of the Gibraltar Association.
