Walk The Rock Campaign: Gibraltar Upper Primary Schools Unite For Fitness And Fun

Over 500 upper primary school pupils from six schools across Gibraltar will join the ‘Walk the Rock Campaign’ on Wednesday, 28th May, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Commonwealth Park.

A statement from the Walk the Rock Campaign follows below:

This exciting campaign, in partnership with the Department of Education and in the lead up to NWYC2025 Gibraltar, will be encouraging physical activity, collaboration between schools, and a healthy dose of fun for students. Participants will take part in a symbolic run around the Rock of Gibraltar by completing 28 laps of Commonwealth Park—equivalent to the full distance around the iconic landmark.

Adding to the adventure, each school will represent a key Gibraltar landmark on their journey, celebrating Gibraltar’s rich heritage.  The young participants will also be joined by members of the Gibraltar Netball Squad, who will cheer them on and take part in the activities.

Event Highlights:
- Symbolic 28-lap challenge (equivalent to running around the Rock)
- School teams representing Gibraltar landmarks
- Special appearances by Gibraltar Netball Squad players
- Promoting NWYC2025, fitness, and teamwork and well-being

This event is a fantastic opportunity for Gibraltar’s younger generation to come together, stay active, and celebrate their community spirit.

Let’s walk, run and rock together!
