Jun 15 - Two Limited Edition Gibraltar Coins Have Been Released
Two limited edition Gibraltar gold coins struck in 22 carat fine gold have been released to commemorate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 65th Anniversary of the Coronation.
The edition is limited to only 65 coins, one for each year of Her Majesty’s coronation and there is a 1 Sovereign and 5 Sovereign Gold Coin as part of the collection.
A spokesperson for the Philatelic Bureau said: "The two coins are struck to a proof finish as is the case with all British and Gibraltar Gold Sovereigns and these have been minted to the highest quality by the Tower Mint in the UK on behalf of the Government of Gibraltar.
"The quality of the gold coin combined with its limited worldwide mintage, its historic anniversary and its gold content will make this one of the most magnificent gold sovereign coins currently available in the market.
"Both the 1 Sovereign coin and 5 Sovereign coins are sold inside a secure capsule within a beautiful luxury wooden presentation box that includes a certificate of authenticity with the edition limit.
"In keeping with the traditions of sovereign coins since 1489, the obverse design includes Latin inscription and sizes. The Sovereign coin design does not include a denominational value as each coin is determined by its diameter.
"The design depicts the Queen’s effigy, previously used on the Gibraltar coinage. The reverse design depicts specifically made engraving for the coins featuring Westminster Abbey, Coronation Crown and the trumpeters."
The coins are exclusively available from the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau at their shop situated in 104 Main Street, outside the Main Post Office, their offices at 9/3 Cooperage Lane or online at www.gibraltar-stamps.com
To reserve your copy please contact the Gibraltar Philatelic Bureau via email [email protected] or telephone number +350 200 75662. Coins will be sold on a first come first serve basis due to its limited availability.
