Aug 31 - NatWest Confirms Corral Road Branch Closure Date
In February, NatWest International announced its plan to exit its Corral Road branch in Gibraltar. The building where the branch is based is to be re-developed into a new 4* hotel.
The first phase of the closure was in June, when the bank moved its customer service unit to Line Wall Road, meaning Corral Road is currently a cash and services centre only. The bank has now confirmed the NatWest International Corral Road branch’s last trading day will be Thursday 18th October.
A statement continued: “NatWest International reviews its branch network regularly and the decision to close a branch is made on a case-by-case basis, based on branch usage and the changing banking habits of customers. In this instance the bank is investing £1.1m in its Line Wall Road branch to create an improved experience for customers. Colleagues from the Corral Road branch will be redeployed to Line Wall Road to help continue to support the bank’s many customers in Gibraltar.
“There are a number of different ways customers can continue to bank with NatWest International; at the Line Wall Road branch, online and through the mobile app. The bank is happy to discuss customer needs in branch and explore the alternative options available.
As part of the transformation at Line Wall Road, the bank is introducing a number of customer improvements, including the latest cash deposit machines and a Coin-In service which allows customers to quickly count coins and deposit them free of charge without the need to bag them. There’ll also be a business quick deposit machine where business customers can drop off deposit bags quickly and easily. All the new features are designed to reduce queuing and waiting time for customers. The refurbished Line Wall Road branch will also feature large scale photos of Gibraltar, showcasing its natural beauty.”
David Bruce, Country Head commented:
“By investing in our Line Wall Road branch, we’re allowing customers to decide how they bank with us, from the Express Wall, fitted with time saving new ways to bank to the new iPad station, where customers can access their online banking. Customers can speak to and make appointments with our Customer Service Officers for mortgages, loans, savings products and their more complex banking needs.”
