Unite Establishes Local Education Branch

Unite has established a local Education branch to “properly tend to the needs of the growing membership”.
A statement from Unite follows below:
Over the years, many individuals employed in HMGoG's Department of Education have joined Unite the Union. Some of these members are from Industrial grades, some are Special Needs Learning Support Assistants and others are teachers.
More recently, individuals from senior grades in schools and the Advisory Service, who feel that they have not been adequately represented in their previous union’s actions and statements, have also registered with Unite.
In view of the increasing numbers, a Unite Education branch has been established locally to properly tend to the needs of the growing membership.
The branch looks forward to meaningful engagement and cooperation with all parties to promote fair and ethical working conditions and practices.
Guided by a spirit of reasonableness and based on the democratic principles of respect, equality and solidarity, the Gibraltar Unite Education branch will work for the benefit of all members so that they may form part of a modern and progressive Education department.”
