UK and Gibraltar Governments Review Contingency Planning For Any Eventuality

The Deputy Chief Minister Dr Joseph Garcia today co-chaired a meeting of the No-Negotiated Outcome (NNO) Board with the Director General for Europe at the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office Julian Braithwaite.
The Gibraltar and UK governments were pleased with progress made since the last NNO Board in December.
The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Joseph Garcia, said: “All sides in the negotiations are committed to working intensively to conclude a UK-EU Treaty. This will help secure future prosperity for both Gibraltar and the surrounding region.
“However, in the event that this is not possible, it is important at the same time to prepare for the alternative as much as we can.
“Our NNO work also involves examining the alternative business models and opportunities which could arise without a treaty, for Gibraltar to operate as a less regulated and more competitive economy in the global marketplace.”
