Government Condemns Violence Towards RGP, Thanks Officers For Professionalism And Dedication

The Government is concerned about and condemns the recent acts of violence towards Royal Gibraltar Police officers, following reports of multiple, separate instances on Wednesday night.
A statement from the Government follows below:
That police officers faced intentional harm and distress during the line of duty is entirely unacceptable.
It has been reported that many of the officers involved prioritised the welfare of those who required their help over their own, going above and beyond in response to very serious incidents. The professionalism and commitment to duty of the Royal Gibraltar Police in the face of these deplorable acts is a source of pride for the community that they endeavour to protect.
TheChiefMinister, the Hon FabianPicardo, said: ‘Reports Of violence and aggression towardsRoyal Gibraltar Police officers carrying out their duties is as disturbing as it is disgraceful. The people of Gibraltar owe a daily debt of gratitude to the rank-and-file police officers of the RGP who are on the frontline, and their dedication to the protection of the community cannot be taken for granted.’
