New Gibraltar Book To Be Launched By The Chief Minister

A new book entitled “Gibraltar. Geography, nature, history, heritage” will be officially launched by the Chief Minister on Tuesday 26th November at 18:30 at the Gibraltar National Museum.
A statement from the Government follows below:
The book has been co-written by Clive, Geraldine and Stewart Finlayson. It was the subject of a recent talk given by the Finlaysons at the Gibraltar Literary Festival.
The book combines aspects of Gibraltar’s history and natural history, and the way in which the two are closely interwoven. It explores how nature and geography have shaped the history of Gibraltar, uniquely placed between Africa and Europe, and between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Heritage, the material evidence of part of that history which lies in front of us today, complements the story.
The result is a unique portrait of Gibraltar, told through the authors’ personal, first-hand, experiences as they carried out research over the past fifty years. The book follows a thematic approach in which the authors attempt to identify those elements that constitute the essence of what Gibraltar is.
