Ben Costello To Adjudicate This Year’s GIBFYM

GAMPA have announced Ben Costello as this year’s adjudicator for the Gibraltar Festival of Young Musicians.

The Gibraltar Festival of Young Musicians organized by GAMPA, now in it’s 20th year, will be held as from Sunday 2nd February to Saturday 8th February at the John Mackintosh Hall. The festival will see entrants from as young as 4 years old to 18 years old competing in different categories. The categories include solo instrumental and vocal performances, duets, ensembles and choirs. The morning of Wednesday 5th will see The School Festival Day, dedicated to school choirs and ensembles. The finalist of each category will go through to performing and competing in the Gala on Saturday at 7pm.
GAMPA is pleased to welcome from the British and International Federation of Festivals, this year’s adjudicator, Mr. Ben Costello BMus; PGDip; MA; FRSA;FISM.
Since 2009, Ben has been a busy generalist music adjudicator for the British and International Federation of Festivals and is also Music Chairman of the Adjudicators’ Council. He adjudicates at festivals throughout the UK and overseas (including visits to Zimbabwe, Botswana, China, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Gibraltar) and has given presentations at several Federation conferences.
Ben maintains a busy schedule as an accompanist, working with a wide variety of respected singers and instrumentalists in concerts, exams and other performing environments. He is also a pianist for Cantabile (The London Quartet).
A known specialist in musical theatre, Ben is much sought-after as a singing teacher and accompanist in this field. A reflective product of this has been his continuing work in most of the major colleges. These have included Arts Ed, GSA, Laines, Trinity Laban, Mountview, LAMDA, RAM, Italia Conti and LSMT. He was the first in-house MD at the London College of Music and is also a music examiner for London College of Music Examinations (LCME).
