Minister for Culture Attends Oxford Literary Festival

Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, Christian Santos, continued Gibraltar’s long-standing working relationship with the Oxford Literary Festival and attended the event to present the ‘Gibraltar Talk’, a feature in collaboration with the Gibraltar Gibunco Literary Festival. This year’s talk was delivered by respected writer and TV personality The Reverend Richard Coles.

A statement continued: “The Reverend is well known for his varied careers; in music, as part of the 1980’s hit pop band The Communards; his BBC Radio programmes; his religious calling; his popular TV appearances on Have I Got News for You, QI, Celebrity Masterchef and Strictly Come Dancing; and his bestselling writing. His talk at the Oxford Festival was centred on his book ‘Murder Under the Mistletoe’.

“Featuring close to 250 events and attended by around 25,000 visitors, the Oxford Literary Festival is one of the highlights in UK’s literary circles. Talks are held at the Great Hall, the Library, the Cathedral and other historic rooms of the University, as well as at other venues throughout central Oxford.

“Minister Santos was accompanied by Chief Culture Officer Mr Seamus Byrne. They were hosted at several talks and receptions where they took the opportunity to promote Gibraltar’s own popular Literary Festival, which will take place in November at several of the Rock’s distinguished and memorable venues.”
