RGP Officers Recognised In British Overseas Territories Women In Policing Awards

Two Royal Gibraltar Police Officers were amongst 11 officers recognised in this year’s British Overseas Territories Women in Policing Awards.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
During an award ceremony conducted yesterday afternoon both online and at various police headquarters across a number of British Overseas Territories, a total of 11 individuals, combining police officers and members of police support staff from the Royal Anguilla Police Force, Bermuda Police Service, Royal Falkland Islands Police, Royal Gibraltar Police, Royal St Helena Police Service, Royal Cayman Island Police and the Sovereign Base Areas Police (Cyprus), received winner and runner-up awards across a range of categories.
The event was the culmination of prior nomination and selection process that had been overseen by an independent policing coordination committee supported by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). The award categories included:
∙ The “Outstanding Contribution” Police Staff Award
∙ The “Outstanding Contribution” Police Officer Award
∙ The “Leadership” Award
∙ The “Inspirational Woman” Award
∙ The “HeForShe” Award
∙ The “Leader of the Future” Award
At the ceremony, Inspectors Tanya McLeod and Luis Garcia-White from the Royal Gibraltar Police were announced as the winners of the “Leadership” and “HeForShe” award categories. Citations were read out for each individual winner and runner-up by senior officers from each of the Overseas Territories.
In the case of Gibraltar, certificates and trophies were presented by His Excellency the Governor, Sir Ben Bathurst KCVO CBE, and the RGP’s Head of Operations, Superintendent Paul Chipolina, in the presence of RGP Assistant Commissioner Cathal Yeats and RGP colleagues of both recipients.
