Ministry of Equality Delivers Training Workshops

The Ministry of Equality continues to raise awareness of a range of Equality matters through the delivery of several training workshops and seminars, led by Policy Development Officer Marlene Dalli for the Department of Education and the Department of Personnel and Development.
The first of these workshops, ‘Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging’, were delivered through the Department of Personnel and Development. The workshop was held over 3 days and was attended by 64 public servants from a cross-section of government departments, agencies and authorities. Dynamic and interactive with plenty of opportunity for discussion, it introduced Equality principles, explored workplace culture and analysed the evolving nature of terminology.
The Ministry of Equality also supported the Department of Education’s Continued Professional Development INSET days last week with a workshop on ‘Unconscious Bias and Challenging Gender Stereotypes in the Classroom.’ A total of 22 teachers and SNLSAs attended the workshop which covered a range of issues including power, privilege, unconscious bias and gender stereotypes.
Minister for Equality, Christian Santos, said: ‘I am very happy that the Ministry of Equality has been able to support both the Department of Personnel and Development as well as the Department of Education through their respective Continued Professional Development programmes. Raising awareness of and embedding equality principles throughout the Public Service is an important part of our work.’
