The Gibraltar Football Association have announced the official programme of events for ‘The Final Whistle’ at the Victoria Stadium.

The Gibraltar Football Association is delighted to unveil the official programme of events for ‘The Final Whistle’ a sporting farewell to the historic, current Victoria Stadium.

The multi-sport celebration will mark a poignant, joyful and celebratory goodbye to a sporting venue that has played host to generations of athletes, fans and unforgettable moments. The event will bring together different sports in a fitting tribute to a stadium that has been home to so many.

Split across two days, first up is an Open day on Wednesday 18^th June when the Victoria Stadium will be open to the public, from 10am – 5pm, for a day of stories, memories and community spirt. Visitors are invited to share their stories and any memorabilia they may have at home and GFA staff will be on hand to collect and record all information throughout the day. There will also be tea, coffee and biscuits available to allow everyone a chance to reminisce with old friends and enjoy the day. GBC will also be broadcasting their Gibraltar Today lunchtime live Radio & TV Show from the Victoria Stadium!

The main event on Saturday 21^st June will see Gibraltar’s sporting associations coming together at the Victoria Stadium, for one final day of action, with the last event on the main pitch being a Gibraltar Football Legends match, kicking off at midday featuring some of Gibraltar’s historic footballing stalwarts. The GFA’s social media channels will be announcing the two teams and coaches for the Legends match very soon!

Main Pitch – Victoria Stadium

• 09:00 – 10:30: Gibraltar Cricket
• 10:30 – 11:00: Gibraltar Athletics
• 11:00 – 12:00: Special Olympics and Walking Football
• 12:00 – 14:00: GFA Legends Match

Indoor Sports Hall

• 09:00 – 10:00: Women’s Veterans Football
• 10:00 – 11:00: Gibraltar Basketball
• 11:00 – 13:00: Gibraltar Netball
• 13:00 – 14:00: Gibraltar Volleyball

After the Gibraltar Legends football match, a ceremonial Final Whistle marking the end of sporting activity at the current Victoria Stadium will be blown by one of the Gibraltar Football Associations’ historic match officials.

All of the events are open to the public, free of charge, and the GFA encourages everyone to come down enjoy and reminisce as ‘The Final Whistle’ is blown on the current Victoria Stadium.
