GCS Summer Workshops And Activities

Gibraltar Cultural Services on behalf of the Ministry of Culture is offering a cultural programme for young people to enjoy this summer, as part of the GSLA’s summer sports and leisure programme.

The summer cultural programme is a vibrant line-up of events to include creative workshops and storytelling sessions designed to inspire and entertain children throughout July and early August.
AFamily Fun Day on Saturday 5th July, at the Mario Finlayson National Gallery, 10am- 2pm, aims to encourage interest in our heritage artworks and artists attracting young people to the City Hall. A storytelling session for ages 4 plus, focusing on the recently launched children’s book on artist Gustavo Bacarisas will be part of the programme, with a Sketch n Snack session for youngsters 6 plus also part of the offering. Hosted at the GEMA Gallery, a series of hands-on workshops will run every Thursday at 11:00am, encouraging young participants to explore art, movement, and storytelling in fun and interactive ways. Activities include a fun creative yoga session with Kationa Matto and ‘Moving stories, masks, mime, and magic’ with Emma Macdonald.
There will also be papercraft with Shane Dalmedo and glow-in-the-dark painting with Lizanne Figueras and Kitchen Studios. Workshops are suitable for children aged 4 to 12, depending on the session, and tickets are priced at £5 per child. Tickets for all workshops and further info are available at Buytickets.gi.
The ever-popular FREE Summer Storytelling sessions for children aged 3 to 7 will tour a variety of outdoor and cultural locations, including Commonwealth Park, Campion Park, and the GEMA and Mario Finlayson National Art Galleries. These sessions will take place at 10:00am every Tuesday from 15th July to 5th August. Storytelling sessions require children to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. GCS will also be supporting The Mindspace Project with their ‘Summer Camp with a Difference’. The aim of the programme is to help children connect with their community, discover local culture, and learn aboutthe environment around.
