Four Cyclists Complete 1,200km Ride from Lourdes to Gibraltar, Raising over £12,000 for Charity

An extraordinary cycling challenge has come to a successful close as four determined cyclists completed a 1,200 km journey from Lourdes, France, to Gibraltar, conquering over 12,000 metres of elevation in just 10 days. The challenge, which began on 15th May 2025, was undertaken in support of Brain Tumour Research and Kidney Care Gibraltar, raising an incredible £12,518 donated equally between the two charities.
Cyclists Ian, Tony, Jimmy, and Glen pushed their physical and mental limits through mountainous terrain and long hours in the saddle, accompanied every step of the way by their dedicated support team, Michael and Ian, who ensured safety, logistics and morale were always a priority.
A statement continued: “This incredible achievement would not have been possible without the overwhelming support of the wider community. Heartfelt thanks go out to all individuals, families, and local businesses whose generous donations made reaching over the £12,000 milestone possible. Your kindness and commitment to these causes have made a lasting impact.
“The team also extends a special thank you to all event sponsors, whose backing played a vital role in bringing this initiative to life. Their belief in the cause and their generosity helped fuel both the journey and its mission.
“Lastly, the cyclists and support crew wish to express their deepest gratitude to their families for their unwavering support, encouragement, and sacrifices throughout this endeavour.
“Together, this event has not only raised vital funds but also awareness for two incredibly worthy causes. The cyclists hope their journey inspires others to push boundaries and support those in need.”
