Traffic Management Arrangements – Ceremonial Convent Guard Mount

The Royal Gibraltar Police will be implementing a number of parking restrictions and traffic diversions as part of the wider policing and security operation for the Ceremonial Convent Guard Mount, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday 18th October 2025.

 

Parking Restrictions (from 7:00am Saturday 18th October 2025 until further notice) 

• Main Street (South) – Parking restrictions between Southport Gates and The  Convent, including Convent Ramp, King’s Yard Lane, and also applicable to  bicycles and PLETS.  

Road Closures (from 9:30am to 1:30pm on Saturday 18th October 2025) 

• Convent Place – Convent Ramp – King’s Yard Lane – Southport Gates access  into Main Street. 

Closed to all vehicular traffic during this time.  

 

Traffic Diversions 

• City-Centre and Upper Town areas will be accessible via John Macintosh  Square, City Mill Lane and/or via Prince Edward’s Gate.  

• Vehicular traffic (with the exception of public/private buses/coaches) will be able  to exit the Upper Town area via Town Range, into George’s Lane and existing  into Cathedral Square. 

• Upper Town designated public bus route and private tour operator coasters  exiting the Upper Rock Nature Reserve will be diverted south into Flat Bastion  Road and Gardiner’s Road into Europa Road.  

Public Service Vehicles 

• Main Street public bus routes will be diverted to Queensway. 

• Trafalgar Cemetery Taxi-Rank will be temporarily re-located to Trafalgar Hill by  the entrance to Trafalgar House / SOHO Ltd 

• Cathedral Square Taxi-Rank will be temporarily re-located to Line Wall Road,  adjacent to the Bristol Hotel pool/garden area. 

 

Information notices and signage will be placed at the relevant locations to assist  motorists ahead of the implementation date. 

Motorists travelling between the North and South districts during the period of these

temporary restrictions are advised to use Queensway and the Eastern Side road network.
