The Royal British Legion Gibraltar Branch – Poppy Day Appeal 2025

This year the Appeal will take place on Friday 7th November with collections points spread out in various locations manned by Legion members and serving Forces personnel.
A statement from the Royal British Legion Gibraltar Branch follows below:
The Poppy Appeal is the Royal British Legion’s biggest fundraising campaign held every year in November, the period of Remembrance. Poppies are worn as a show of support for the Armed Forces community.
This year the Appeal will take place on Friday 07 November with collections points spread out in various locations manned by Legion members and serving Forces personnel.
Wearing a poppy is a simple yet powerful act of remembrance. Each poppy honours every life lost in service and shows support for those still living with the impact of conflict. Our red poppy represents all those who lost their lives on active service, from the beginning of the First World War right up to present day.
For the Armed Forces community, serving and retired, it’s a visible symbol of gratitude and respect - a reminder that their courage and sacrifice are never forgotten
This year is the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, the most devastating and lethal war in history. The Chairman of the Gibraltar Branch, Lt Col (Rtd) Francis Brancato OBE JP says, “Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. This year we shall be returning to the traditional location at the Cross of Sacrifice for our parade and service of remembrance”.
The Legion is therefore once again calling on the local community to show their appreciation for the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces, veterans and their families in safeguarding our freedoms and values.
Those wishing to take part in the Remembrance Day Parade on Sunday 09 November, are requested to muster at South Gate, South Dispersal (opposite old CEPSA petrol station) at 1120hrs. Dress regimental beret, tie, blazer and medals. March on will be at 1140hrs.
