New Cemetery Entrance Coincides With Other Improvements

Minister for the Environment John Cortes last week inaugurated the new entrance to North Font Cemetery, together with Maurice Stagnetto.
A statement from the Government follows below:
Works for the new, smart, entrance area and planting was sponsored by Lewis Stagnetto Ltd, whose warehouses are across the road from the cemetery, as part of a general improvement to the area.
The new entrance provides a well-kept, dignified space for the hearse and for families and friends attending funerals, replacing the undignified parking free-for-all that was often the case in the past.
Coinciding with the improvement to the entrance, the Cemetery management has enhanced the maintenance programme, with work having been carried out in landscaping, under contract to Greenarc, painting of walls, and removing of rubble and other debris, resulting in a much smarter look overall.
Minister Cortes said: “We have made much needed changes to the way the cemetery is maintained to coincide with the works kindly sponsored by Stagnetto’s. We are planning further landscaping improvements to enhance the site, which is so important to the community.”
