Ten Candidates Successfully Complete Second Cycle Of The Skills For Care Apprenticeship

The Ministry of Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, in collaboration with the Ministry for Health and Care and the Care Agency, have completed the second cycle of the Skills for Care Apprenticeship.
A statement from the Government follows below:
The Ministry of Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, in collaboration with the Ministry for Health and Care and the Care Agency, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the second cycle of the Skills for Care Apprenticeship.
Ten candidates successfully completed the six-month apprenticeship programme following a combination of classroom-based learning and practical workplace experience. Following completion of the programme, all ten apprentices have secured employment within Gibraltar's care sector.
Throughout the programme, apprentices developed the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
The apprenticeship included training in key areas such as safeguarding, infection prevention and control, manual handling, first aid, communication skills and person-centred care. Alongside their classroom learning, participants undertook shadowing opportunities with experienced care professionals, gaining valuable insight into the day-to-day realities of working within the care sector.
The programme forms part of the Government's ongoing commitment to strengthening Gibraltar's care workforce by creating meaningful training and employment opportunities.
Minister for Health and Care, the Hon Gemma Arias-Vasquez MP, said:
"I am delighted to congratulate this latest cohort on successfully completing the Skills for Care Apprenticeship. Care is about much more than providing support – it is about treating people with respect and compassion. These apprentices have developed the skills and values needed to make a real difference in the lives of those they will care for. They will be joining our care workforce and contribute to the high standard of care that our community deserves."
Minister for Equality, Employment, Culture and Tourism, the Hon Christian Santos GMD MP, said:
"The successful completion of this second cycle demonstrates the value of investing in people and creating clear pathways into meaningful employment. These ten individuals have not only gained valuable skills and practical experience, but have also chosen a profession centred on compassion, dignity and service to others. I congratulate them on their achievement and thank our partners in the Care Agency for their continued commitment to developing local talent."
