RGP Officer Arrested Following Assault

A serving RGP officer, who is currently suspended from the RGP in connection with a separate matter, has been arrested on suspicion of Assault Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm.
A statement from the RGP follows below:
The arrest was made by uniformed Response Team Officers, who had responded to a report of an assault in the area of Prince Edward's Road in the early hours of Sunday 28th June 2026, and where the 34 year old British male was identified as the suspect and subsequently arrested. As a result of this incident, a female was treated in hospital for bruising, grazes and a suspected fracture to the shoulder area, and later discharged.
The investigation has been taken over by detectives from the RGP's Professional Standards Department and remains ongoing.
