Feb 26 - Spanish Navy Disrupts Sandy Bay Rock Delivery
26 February 2014
A freighter dubbed the Hagland Boss was monitored by a Spanish naval warship this weekend. The vessel was carrying out a routine delivery of rocks from Morocco, to be used in the building of the groynes at Sandy Bay. Reporting on the incident, Spanish press have noted a coincidence in the ship’s arrival and the presence of a series of Royal Naval vessels in the bay.
Europa Sur insists that the rocks are being used to develop a ‘luxury resort’ near the Sandy Bay area dubbed ‘Capevantage’, although no plans for this have been detailed or even suggested by the Gibraltar Government.
Reports also note that the Guardia Civil were spotted recording the Hagland Boss carrying out work within the area of Sandy Bay.
