Jun 27 - Royal Marines 350th Anniversary Charity Events
The Governor hosted a visit by Colonel Richard Kenworthy from the Royal Marine Charitable Trust and Alan Hardy from Commando Challenge this week to discuss plans for the Royal Marines 350th Celebrations.
Alan is organising a full weekend of charity celebrations on the 24th to 26th October 2014 to mark the 350th Anniversary of the Royal Marine, he said, 'Gibraltar is a special place to the Royal Marines and is emblazoned on our cap badges, so we thought there is no better place to hold a weekend of events which will raise much needed funds for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust, on Saturday morning there be a mass Rock Run which the Governor himself will run, this event will also be open to the general public.
'On Saturday evening there will be a Gala Reception Evening held in the Convent and on Sunday morning and in the evening there will be a Royal Marines Memorial Service and Charity Concert by the Royal Marines Band at Saint Michaels cave, I would like to thank the Governor for his strong support as well as the Ministry of Culture and Tourist Board for their help and advice. Tickets will go on sale for all events in due course.'
