Dec 10 - Port Officials Attend Mediterranean Bunker Conference
The Gibraltar Port Authority’s international marketing strategy to promote the Rock as a maritime centre of excellence continued with the participation by Captain of the Port Commodore Bob Sanguinetti in the Mediterranean Bunker Conference, recently organised by the global petrochemical giant Platts, in Barcelona.
This follows on from Minister for Tourism Neil Costa’s highly successful marketing trip to Hong Kong last week. Minister Costa believes that that this will serve as a valuable platform to attract new business from Far Eastern shipping companies operating in the Mediterranean.
Commodore Sanguinetti led a team that included the local Bunkering Superintendent for the Gibraltar Port Authority John Ghio, and several local private sector shipping companies.
Mr Sanguinetti insisted that by attending these events with local operators, Gibraltar is able to ‘convey the uniqueness of Gibraltar, and in particular showcase the close working relationships between the GPA and the private sector, one of our greatest strengths.’
