Feb 11 - Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution Takes on the Rock

food revolution Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution took America by a storm in 2010, as the acclaimed British chef initiated a grassroots campaign in the US in an effort to educate the masses on making their eating habits healthier and help fight obesity.

The movement recently appeared on the Rock under the management of Grace Bethany Shiplee, whose faith in the now global programme moved her to apply as an ambassador. The campaign pushes communities into developing their knowledge of food ‘and educating people on the benefits of getting back to basics by cooking with real ingredients.’

Grace tells YGTV that the project has selected ambassadors from around the world affording them the target of completing monthly challenges. Grace adds that ‘the campaign offers the opportunity for people to receive accessible education and free advice in eating clean. It brings important issues to the front of the community’s thoughts and encourages like minded people to come together.’

The inaugural challenge Grace has embarked on is promoting ‘wonky veg’ in an effort to increase awareness of the high levels of wasted food. She is launching an art competition for school children, requesting that they incorporate a piece of wonky veg into a piece of art.

Qualified in promoting community health and working closely with the Weight Health Intervention Programme (WHIP) at the Ocean Village Gym, Grace dedicates much of her life to ‘helping people become happier and healthier’. When questioned on why she thought it important to bring the Food Revolution mantra to the Rock Grace insisted that ‘Jamie Oliver is a Fantastic role model, with an important message.’ She added, ‘I believe having a food Revolution Ambassador to get communities thinking about their lifestyles and educating them to make positive changes is an advantage anywhere and everywhere’.
