Feb 11 - Unite Commends Government for Dr. Giraldi Inquiry
Unite the Union has commended the Government for their inquiry into the Dr. Giraldi Home. The Union further praised them for ensuring that ‘that all relevant allegations have been investigated comprehensively, fairly and subject to the fullest possible scrutiny of our community.’
A Union spokesperson claimed that, ‘Unite has always sympathised with the concerns and wellbeing of the service users, their families, as well as those members of the care profession who have been involved directly or indirectly in the Inquiry.’
They added, ‘the Inquiry has clearly been exhaustive and has involved the cooperation and assistance of individuals, some of whom have been, and continue to be, members of Unite. Unite shares in the satisfaction and relief of the overwhelming majority of the members concerned that the Inquiry process has finally concluded and that its findings have been reported in full.
‘The Inquiry was followed closely and Unite is entirely satisfied with the manner in which the process has been carried out.’
The Union further commended Chairman Sir Jonathan Parker for his ‘dedication, professionalism and impartiality throughout the process.’
