Construction Work at Lathbury Athletics Track

The Government says that the public should be aware that there are additional construction works taking place on and around the new athletics track at Lathbury. Unfortunately, these works have required a part (less than 10%) of the track to be removed.
A statement continued: “These works were planned some time ago and will permit access to a large underground car park on three levels. There was insufficient time to have the access ramp ready for the start of the Gibraltar 2019 NatWest International Island Games and so the decision was made to ensure that a first-class running track was ready for the Games and that the ramp and car park would be completed immediately afterwards. The relevant stakeholders were informed at each stage and provision has been made so that the sports affected can carry on as normal by use of other facilities.”
