The Showdance Company Returns From Barcelona Dance Awards

The Showdance Company recently returned from competing at the Barcelona Dance Awards.

A statement from The Showdance Company follows below:

We have just returned from a dance competition and we are delighted to share an exhilarating experience that has recently unfolded for our talented team of 32 dancers, who proudly represented Gibraltar at the prestigious Barcelona Dance Awards. This international competition brought together dancers from 14 countries across 4 continents, creating a vibrant tapestry of cultures united by a shared passion for dance.

Our dancers showcased their hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm, performing with incredible energy and grace. Competing on such a significant platform not only allowed us to highlight our love for dance but also to connect with dancers from diverse backgrounds, sharing techniques, styles, and stories that transcend borders.

The Barcelona Dance Awards is more than just a competition; it is a celebration of the art of dance and a testament to the dedication of dancers worldwide. Every performance was filled with emotion, showcasing the universal language of movement and expression that unites us all.

We are incredibly proud to announce that our school received 1st place in the Acro section, with the choreography by Sabrina Abudarham. Additionally, we achieved 3rd place in the Lyrical section, choreographed by the talented Tamara Ferrary. These accomplishments reflect the hard work and dedication our students have shown in their training and rehearsals.

Moreover, our group was honored with a Special Award for Most Outstanding School in the Pedagogy category. This award celebrates our commitment to educating and nurturing young dancers, and we are proud to lead by example in cultivating both skill and discipline within our students.

I would also like to take a moment to give a special mention to our three exceptional boys: Nicholas Afzan , Erik Abudarham, and Vladimir Ionescu. Out of over 200 dancers involved in the competition, they were recognised for their extraordinary performances and awarded the Most Outstanding Performers. Their hard work and enthusiasm have truly set a benchmark for peers and made us all proud.
