dan aldridge golfGibraltar based Dan Aldridge recently secured himself a spot in the final qualifying stage of the 2013 PGA EuroPro Tour finishing 2 over par over 36 holes. The tournament’s first round qualifier was held in Stoke by Nayland Essex. The final stage at Frilford Heath was to be contested over 54 holes with a cut to be made after 36 holes.  240 players completed the first part of the final stage and 120 plus ties made the cut, including Dan, to compete for a category in the 2013 PGA EuroPro Tour season.  Dan eventually finished, the 3 days, 6 over allowing him Category 11.

Commenting on his participation, Dan noted, ‘considering this was my first major qualifying event, I feel fairly pleased with my performance although I have massive room for improvement.  My short game and putting, particularly over the last 54 holes was not up to scratch and now that I have qualified to play on the tour, I intend to concentrate on this. I was competing against some highly experienced tour professionals and felt I justified my presence to play at their levels.  I have no doubt that I can succeed on the PGA EuroPro Tour and expect my season to improve considerably leading me forward to achieve a category in the Challenge Tour next year.’

The Tour is a men's developmental professional golf tour that was created in 2002 by the merger of two older development tours, the EuroPro Tour and the PGA MasterCard Tour.  It is based mainly in the United Kingdom, with a few events in other countries. Most of the players are British, with others coming from Ireland, Continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

The Tour aims to provide young professional golfers golfers with a platform to launch a tournament career. It is broadcast on Sky Sports, as well as the Golf Channel in the US.

Dan, who began playing golf at age 15, is now in need of sponsorship to allow him to compete in the 15 events of the tour. Sponsors will receive identification and acknowledgement by name and logo on Dan's clothing and bag, as well as on promotional material and Dan’s website. He is also keen to promote the health, social and corporate benefits of golf to Gibraltar's businesses through sponsorship and would attend corporate events and provide personal lessons.

Dan thanked the Government of Gibraltar, including the Chief Minister and Sports Minister Steven Linares for their support and encouragement. Interested parties are asked to contact Dan at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
