Jul 29 - Day Five Of The Commonwealth Games Sees Gibraltar’s Shooters In Action
Day five of competition saw the main focus for Team Gibraltar center on the Barry Budden Shooting Complex on the outskirts of Dundee. Gibraltar's shooters had begun over the weekend with 10m Air Pistol and Air Rifle, but five more took to the firing points. Clay Target Shooters Kevin Cowles and Gary Cooper made solid starts to their first two rounds of shooting, Kevin shot 42 out of 50 while Gary closed on 36 out of 50. The pair continue tomorrow with a further three rounds before the final.
Prone rifle trio Albert Buhagiar, Wayne Piri and Natalie Piri shot their respective competitions. This morning Wayne Piri shot 615.3, with Albert Buhagiar finished on 603.8.
Natalie Piri another of Team Gibraltar's debutants at Commonwealth level shot 599.5.
Jim Sanderson continues his impressive form in the pool as he set his 3rd National Record of the Games, touching home in 25:33 in the 50m freestyle.
Along with clay shooting today, the swimmers wrap up their competition which will involve Gibraltar in a relay for the first time in several games, squash's men's doubles competition starts and Emma Montiel goes in the women's 10,000m.
