Oct 15 - Major Upgrade for Victoria Stadium
Bayside Sports Centre is set to receive a major remodel as part of the Government’s policy to increase facilities. The project will include upgrades to to the main spectator stands and a new adjacent building. The GFA and GSLA have been working closely with UEFA to implement improvements to changing rooms, develop a new media centre and a ‘doping control station.
Other sports carried out at the complex will also reap the benefits of the revamp, which is set to further include a fit-for purpose building for the Stay and Play programme, an enhanced seminar/Lecture room facility, and improved and more welcoming bar and cafeteria area as well as a mezzanine level to provide office and storage space.
The works will commence on Monday 20th October and will cause disruptions in terms of access routes to certain facilities. The tender for the project was awarded to Sharrock Shand for £2.74 million.
