Oct 28 - GFA Home Games to Remain in Portugal
The GFA has today confirmed that following speculation over Gibraltar home matches potentially moving to London, the decision has been made to continue hosting the matches at the Estadio de Algarve in Faro Portugal.
Concerns over VAT and tax issues, that sparked the idea of a potential move, have been resolved, claim the GFA, following discussions with Portuguese tax authorities and Portugal’s Football Association. Concerns over security arrangements have also been resolved after the GFA contracted a new security company to deal with security at the stadium on match-days. GFA supporters revealed their satisfaction with the change during the recent European Qualifiers match against Georgia.
It is further noted by the Association that German, Irish and Scottish national team fans have already organized travel and accommodation in Portugal for upcoming UEFA European Qualifying matches.
