Jul 10 - Exciting Future For Lions Gibraltar FC As Club Is Acquired By Entrepreneur
Lions Gibraltar FC has confirmed that it has been acquired by Hercules Sports Promotion Ltd, a company headed by entrepreneur Andrew Flowers. Mr Flowers is also the joint owner of the club’s sponsors: local insurance company Enterprise Insurance Co PLC.
Mr Flowers made an unsuccessful bid for Leeds United in 2013 but his passion for football remains strong. At a press conference this afternoon, he said he was committed to investing in local football and nurturing young talent.
Representatives for the Lions say that the club and its members will continue to retain a “very substantial shareholding” in what will be a joint venture.
A statement from the club continued: “The common objective is to retain all the benefits of a club and structure that next year celebrates its 50th birthday, and through Hercules’ contacts in the UK and elsewhere, bring in a new professional dimension that creates a platform for both short and long term future success.
“The club is very excited at the prospect of the investment and the emerging relationships which will create a solid base for the club as it deals in the transfer windows and negotiations with players in their current squad and new entrants.”
