Nov 11 - Seven Gibraltar Teams In This Year’s CyberCenturion Competition

This year, seven teams from both Bayside and Westside schools are taking part in the CyberCenturion competition. They’re up against over 100 teams from the UK and overseas territories.

Each team must play a series of online qualifying rounds, which will challenge them to learn about networking, coding and cyber security. If the team scores higher than most of the other players and makes it to the leaderboard, then they will be invited to play in the National Final at Bletchley Park, a face-to-face competition which finds the ultimate champion for the year.

The first qualifying round is being hosted today at the University of Gibraltar from 2pm to 8pm.

Gibraltar won the competition last year - the prize was a lunch with Northrop Grumman and an original decoded message from World War 2.

This year, the teams have received sponsorship from PWC, Gibtelecom, BWin, Aquagib and Deloitte.

Apart from the competition, a number of the participants have started working towards a City and Guilds in Cybersecurity. This is equivalent to an AS level qualification and they are being supported by BWin's security team.
