Mar 19 - Cortes Launches Geoportal
19 March 2014
Environment Minister Dr John Cortes launched Gibraltar’s Geoportal this morning. The web project provides vast amounts of geographical data on Gibraltar including aerial views, land use details and even geological features. The Geoportal is part of the Government’s drive to transpose and implement all EU directives and will provide tourists, researchers, planners and the curious with an ever-evolving and in-depth picture of Gibraltar.
The website, which can be viewed on www.geoportal.gov.gi, is the result of a close collaboration between the IT and Environment Departments with all the work being carried out locally.
The site also allows users to download the data and modify the information on the maps.
