Mar 05 – GSD: Chief Minister Does Not Wish To Engage On Consequences Of LNG Incident

The Chief Minister’s lack of appreciation of the potential risk and consequences of his plans to build a bunkering-capacity LNG installation so close to densely-populated areas is a huge cause for public concern, according to the latest release from the Opposition. The party says that Mr Picardo’s “continuing attempt to deflect people’s attention away from those issues is causing him to mislead the public yet again.”

Mar 05 - New Port Authority Recruit Qualifies As Vessel Traffic Services Operator

The Gibraltar Port Authority has announced that its latest recruit has successfully qualified as a VTS Operator following an extensive period of training in the UK. Shane Ramagge was appointed as a trainee VTS Operator in mid-December and attended the South Tyneside College near Newcastle in early January for a rigorous 7-week course which provided his VHF radio, radar and VTS training before his final assessment by the college at the end of February. Shane is now fully qualified to operate in the VTS office, and joins his other colleagues maintaining the 24 hour coverage of BGTW ensuring the navigational safety of vessel movements in and around the coast of Gibraltar.
