The Chief Minister, Fabian Picardo, today met with the Foreign Secretary, Rt Hon Lord David Cameron, at the Foreign Office in London in order to discuss the outstanding issues and matters in the ongoing negotiation with the European Union in relation to Gibraltar.
For many years it was believed that a large doorway opposite the Ince’s Hall had been brought there from a nearby site. However, conservation and restoration work carried out by the Gibraltar Museum in 2013 confirmed that it was, in fact, in its original location. Drawings and plans dating back to the late 16th and early 17th Centuries show that this was indeed the location of the Roman Catholic Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario.
Setting the tone for tourists, itching to explore Gibraltar's more vintage locations, the Gibraltar Classic Vehicles Association have set up a display of a selection of vintage cars in the Cruise Terminal. The display includes an old Hawk, a 1951 MG YA and a vintage Harley Davidson motorbike.
A Spanish national was arrested by HM Customs yesterday evening at Eastern Beach. He was intercepted by officers whilst walking north towards the frontier fence carrying a haversack which was found to contain 2,000 cigarettes (10 cartons).
The Government has said that it welcomes the announcement by local company Your Flight regarding the launch of its charter services from Gibraltar to the Imperial Moroccan city of Marrakech.
