Jan 22 - Cigarette Seizure At Eastern Beach

A Spanish national was arrested by HM Customs yesterday evening at Eastern Beach. He was intercepted by officers whilst walking north towards the frontier fence carrying a haversack which was found to contain 2,000 cigarettes (10 cartons).

The 17 year old from La Linea was arrested for an offence under the provisions of the Tobacco Act S11 special zones regulations.

The cigarettes have been seized by HM Customs and the Spanish national has been bailed to surrender on Feb 28th.
