Low European Election Turnout –Apathy of the People or Staunch Protest Against Europe?

parliamentYesterday’s polling day saw the lowest turnout of voters of both European Elections that Gibraltar has been able to participate in, with a meagre 33% of the electorate voting. Taking to the streets to discuss the low turnout, the prospect of voting in a European election and Gibraltar’s tendency to complain about Europe not doing enough for them, mixed views were expressed by the general public, with the majority of individuals not having voted at all.
